I have a 2000 S80 non-turbo. My codes are telling me I need to replace the o2 sensors, and the bad gas mileage and stink also.
How many o2 sensors are there on the exhaust?
Vadis doesn't show replacing any at the rear, just at the cat converters. Unless I am not finding a section in Vadis. Online parts places show a left and right o2 sensor for the front, and says two o2 sensors required at the rear.
I have also read on here about cleaning the o2 sensors, the post I saw said "CRC" someting to use to clean them.
Anybody had any luck cleaning them?

Some additional info. The codes are as follows...

P0136 O2S Heater Ckt Malfunction 1/2
P0161 O2S Heater Ckt Malfunction 2/2
????? O2S Ckt No Activity Detected 2/1
(i didn't write the number down on the last one, and the code scanner is at home)

I don't think the smell in the exhaust is caused by bad O2 sensors, your catalytic converter may be bad. The codes indicate problems with the sensors after the catalytic converters, which if the cat isn't working or is fouled, the sensors post-cat would be showing a problem. Also, the heater circuit malfunction could indicate a wiring problem. Check the plugs where the sensors plug into.
I changed all four on my s80, but mines a T6, so yours might be a little different. On the T6, you need to split the exhaust near the middle of the car and drop the exhaust pipe by carefully bending the flex coupling coming off the engine to get to all four sensors.
I bought the sensors from Amazon.com. They sell the O2 sensors which are OEM Bosch for less than half of what the dealer sells them for.
