I replaced my right drive shaft on a whim of detective work, posts here, vibration under load and at higher rpm's any gear, right side because it is longer (Hence more rotational force) and local parts department never sold a left! the vadis had good directions, remove wheel, caliper, spring strut, shaft bolt, far end of drive shaft, center bearing mount, but left out removing stabilizer link from removed spring strut. i did not replace the inner 2 seals on the gearbox/bevel gear housing and had no oil drain, when i slid out the middle side of the drive shaft. i now think those seals were leaking due to vibration of the failed cv joint. the problem is i cannot find the correct fill point for the gearbox/ bevel gear/angle gear .
i do not believe the transmission fluid flows thru there.
I think it is an 80/90w volvo gear oil, but where do you put it in?
any help is great.

The fill plug is located on the right rear side (passenger) of the bevel gear housing. it is a 13 mm drain plug with crushable washer, the same size as oil drain. you do put volvo specific 80/90w gear oil. when car is level till it seeps out -about 800ml replace there is a great right up about putting a drain in, on bay 13. one should be careful not to mess up the studs female threads when drilling. also a word to the wise when replacing drive shafts go buy the 3 seals that encircle the drive shaft as it enters the bevel housing. much easier to remove the shaft once than have to do it again. otherwise you will have a constant weeping of your gear oil .
