Neebie for a 2000 S40 1.9T

Post by tsc1015 »

Hey all,

Neebie here, just bought mine today, so far i love it, but it needs a few things. I won't ask many questions till i check it out tomorrow, and also search the forum, but I'll give a clues to what i noticed so far

Headlights (low beams) blew out, getting me a little scared, hibeams point way off.

Heat is terrible, barely warm, I'll check the level and see if i can burp it.

Radio needs code, I have code, trying to wait the 2 1/2 hours to try and input it again.

It is a base model, love the color, will be great for my wife, hoping good luck with it.

Let me know if I should checking anything, and HELLO to all.

Welcome. I am also a newbie. Just got mine second hand two days ago.

The 1999 S40 T4 (Automatic).

Had to wait the 2 hours to enter the radio code to get that working.

Will need to do a few minor things and will search forum to find answers.

Here is the list of things I would like to fix over the next few months:
* The driver side sun visor is limp. Will need to replace entire unit...
* A couple of the console lights are out. Particularly annoying is the one that lights up the current gear selection. I guess I need to get new bulbs.
* The remote key-less entry fob is missing - presumed lost. Not sure if to use aftermarket or find a replacement ...
* The plastic around the key is damaged - probably due to the fact that the keyless entry fob has been lost and there is only one key and it has had a lot of use.

Love the car.

Yea, it killed me to have the 2 hours, but works like a champ now, I found what looks to be a good system to hook up my iPhone, not full control over it but the stereo is not the best they offer anyways. Without controls on the wheel it is really not a big deal, uses the CD changer input so it will be clean, still stock, and sounds good.

Look in the u-pullit's maybe you can find one that was crashed and grab a visor.

I have the same issue with the console lights, take pictures when you do it, I'll do the same, I also have to replace a couple in the heater controller.

You can get the key fobs online, but you need a code with them and still have to take it to Volvo to get it programed, atleast that is all I found on that so far. The key seems to be the same issue, has to go to Volvo to get it programed :(

I really like the car but the 2 major problems I have really worry me, and not many people seem to work on these themselves, there does not seem to be to much help for DIYS guys :(
