lambda confusion

Post by boy-wonder »

Hi,
new to volvos and this forum, any help would be grately appreciated.

I have been told i need a new lambda sensor by a garage recently so, to try and avoid the heavy costs i decided to tackle the problem myself but, i dont know which one to buy. having searched many hundreds of web-sites i can never find my engine number listed and am not even sure if i have one or two sensors on my car.

any help would be very much appreciated.

its a 1999 V40 2.0 auto, non turbo.

Thanks
Tim

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

According to my book the 1999 UK model has one Lambda sensor in the down pipe in front of the catalytic converter.

Try Parts Gateway for a unit. They don't sell parts but will pass your needs to several new and used Volvo parts dealers who will contact you with availability and price. I have used them on a number of occasions. The service is first class and the prices reasonable.

Thanks Bill,

enquiry sent to parts gateway.

Sorry, should have specified i was in UK in the original post, but you obviously worked it out.

You guys run a great site and I can see myself being a bit of a regular here as i'm not the most well read person when it comes to mechanics but would like to try and do more things myself.

Thanks again,

Tim.

Well, our capital city sort of gave it away.
