240 DL wagon 1982 Won't start

My car has 175k miles on it and my son was driving it and it cut off and wouldn't start again. The engine turns over but it seems not to be firing. We checked the plugs and wires and they were alright. We checked the distributor and when we tried to crank it the engine turned over but the rotor didn't turn. Any ideas?

Check the timing belt. It may have snapped.
