Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Post by contrast1 »

hi guys, i have a 2000 s80 great car had it 3 yrs now not a problem until about 6 months ago ... its a automatic so when I'm accelerating there is no problems its when i take my foot off the gas my rpm drops to around 3 to 400 and sometimes even stalls ,when she doesn't stall the rpm picks back up after about 10 seconds and everything is OK its just worrying when i have the kids n the car and she stalls so i would appreciate a little help on this one she ticks over at 800 rpm i have even thought of upping the rpm so the tick over is higher please guys help me cheers .. The idle speed is not adjustable.

You could have a failing Electronic Throttle Module (ETM). Volvo extended the warranty on some of the ETMs to 10 years (from date of first use) or 200,000 miles after a lawsuit. If your car is under those limitations, I'd take it to a Volvo dealer right away to see if you can get them to replace the ETM under warranty. If they won't and the ETM is the problem, I'd go with the XemodeX replacement as it's cheaper and won't wear out.

I suggest you go to this forum and read through the posts for more info: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... m.php?f=12
