Okay, here's the deal:
Friday my wife is driving our 2002 S60 to work. She calls me and tells me that the "Low Oil Pressure" light came on then she hears a knocking sound. She exits the freeway and suddenly the check engine light comes on and the car dies.
Sure enough this thing won't start at all. The engine won't even turn over and the check engine light is on. I run the OBDII Code Reader and it returns the following codes:
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0607
DTC Definition: Control Module Performance
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0014
DTC Definition: Camshaft Position Actuator B - Bank 1 Timing Over-Advan.
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0300
DTC Definition: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0301
DTC Definition: Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0302
DTC Definition: Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0304
DTC Definition: Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0305
DTC Definition: Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
I started it this morning and it made a huge knocking sound, so I killed it. Crawled under and find oil all over the pan, oil on the turbo seal, and a small drip that looks like it is coming from the turbo itself. I can't see any one particular place where the oil is coming from...it's just all over the place.
You guys ever encounter anything like this? Or know of the first place to start looking for trouble?

Yes, I did once when my engine blew up (different car).stumpjumper_steve wrote:You guys ever encounter anything like this?
It sounds like you sprung a leak and all your oil was pumped overboard, then your wife continued to run the engine. Chances are all the bearings are trashed and maybe some other stuff too.
Have you checked the oil level?
The knocking noise usually means you have spun the bearings or thrown a rod. On engines with tight clearances, sometimes when the bearings are worn down too far the pistons will contact the head, making a very loud knocking noise. Sometimes it can be fixed with just new bearings. Sometimes a crankshaft and/or new connecting rods are needed. If a rod is thrown, you will probably need a new crankshaft and/or cylinder block.
You can try refilling it with oil, then cranking it to see if you can find the leak. If so, you might be able to fix the leak, then see if it will start and hopefully, the knocking noise will go away. If not, you're probably in for an engine rebuild. If you do get it to start, immediately change the oil and filter.
Edited to add: If the crankshaft won't even move, you almost certainly have catastrophic engine damage. You will need to disassemble it to see what's wrong.
