Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT)

Post by pampero »

Engine light comes on, the code that showes is P0116 (engine coolant temperature sensor, signal). I replaced the sensor and the light came on again after approximately one day. Need some advice or previous experience.
1998 V70.
Thanks, Andrew.

I have been getting a P0116. Twice in the last two months. I changed out the thermostat along with the sensor. The engine temp had been reading about 220 - 225, now it is down to 200. The temperature guage was also above the centerline. Now it is right on the centerline. So far so good. When researching this code I've seen posts which refer to thermostats and bad connections along with replacing the ECT. My problem was probably the thermostat. I changed the ECT along with it so I wouldn't have to go back under the hood for awhile.

Replace the Thermostat and so far so good, thanks for the replay. I will post again if this did not work. Thanks again, Andrew.
