Anyone any ideas on how to get a TDi alternator out? I have exactly the same problem, the brushes have gone so it needs to come out. I have the alternator completely free of the engine but there is no way to get it past some of the obstructions unless I start taking the radiator or AC condenser pipes off.

I've tried taking the condenser out but it seems to need a very large (larger than 1 inch) spanner but there is no room to turn anything large.
