03', V70 2.0T: Brake, ABS, SRC, Emission failure & rain

Post by Binch »

I am a new and first time Volvo owner...and I'm having interesting troubles when raining. I get Brake failure stop asap, ABS failure, STC failure or Emission failure messages randomly, one, two or all of them WHEN RAINING...Brakes are working fine

No rain, no problems...?

Any ideas where to start checking? I'm guessing electrical problems but I'm a woman so it's a big guess :))) The battery is brand new and its a 100 Ah (maybe too much???), alternator is working ok...
I'd appreciate ideas before I start throwing money away.

Hello, 1) Since money is a consideration..... Have a handy friend remove the ABS control unit (it requires an E5 torx socket)and look for broken solder joints within. There's a guy here in the States who repairs them if you fail to find a break. The car stops OK with the ABS control removed; just no ABS. You could live with the shipping delay. 2) WHAT EMMISIONS CODE do you get when it's raining? The only things which are rain related which come to mind are; water in the intake route, shorts to ground in the ignition system and irate male fuelers leaving a gas cap loose for fun. Kira
