What brake parts do I buy?

FCP has numerous choices (and prices) for pads and rotors. What do I do? Pads: Mintex, Akebono, Volvo- considerable diff. in price. Rotors: Brembo vs. Nordic...
I need to keep cost down, but not to sacrifice safety.
