Just a "hey" to introduce myself. I have been "lurking" here for a few days now & I'm simply amazed at the knowledge I have gained pouring over the forum posts! Many thanks to all of you kind souls who share your passion with us less passionate but very interested folk. I can see what a pita it can be when noobs like me join & start blabbering without doing any homework first. Fact is, kinda pisses me off some too. LOL
I'm only through about half the actual posts but have decided it's time to deal with specifics, so will use the search feature instead of wasting another couple weeks. I have a clue as to how this place works now.
I never thought much about Volvos other than my ignorant impressions. Volvos seemed to be cars purchased by "Yuppie, soccer mom, save the gay, unborn whales, tree hugger folk from Marin County,CA" ... ... Then I bought one. ... Hehehe ... A 1996, 850 GLT sedan, w/162,000 miles on her. Body is straight, complete service records, one owner, NOTHING leaks anywhere, even rain water & almost everything works! I replaced the Trunk struts as well as the forward, center, top light console ... (LAWD! Vovo is proud of their parts!!!) & there are a couple other minor items that need attention but none of no never mind to me for now. The lass is CLEAN! Even looking into the oil fill just a bit of light amber. Purchase price? $1000.00 bucks. I could not resist!
This is probably the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. At 60 years of age I have owned a bunch from the fancy to the beaters. Also raced a full blown fuel flat bottom drag boat. Great fuel consumption though! About 5 gallons per quarter mile @ $9.00 dollars a gallon. ... Hahahaha
I'm a salesman right now, Cemetery property (Spare me the jokes I have heard them all
I like to do for myself, enjoy helping others do the same ... (& someday I'll figure out how to remember which neighbor borrowed the particular tool I need right now!) ... To digress a scoche ... Why is it, if it is in their garage more than a month, it becomes THEIRS? ... Rehtorical question, we all know but are either too gullible, (me) or lazy (me) to set up a "check out proceedure". ... But I'm about there! ... ... Nah! Never happen, just should.
Anywho, looking forward to actually participating & thanks again for all the help.
