ac compressor replacement

I have a 2002 Volvo S60 2.4t that needs a new AC compressor, the bearing is shot and its noisey. Can anyone point out a place where there are instructions on how to do this? I cant seem to find anything :-\

Remove the serpentine belt, note the belt routing. Disconnect the hoses from the ac compressor, disconnect the electrical connection from the ac compressor. Jack the car up and remove the engine skid plate, loosen up the lower air guide and move it out of the way, as well as the computer module cooling duct. At this point you should be looking up at the compressor, 4 bolts hold it on and it comes out the bottom. Assuming you have refrigerant in the system you may want to take the car somewhere and have the freon emptied/captured before starting this job.

Because I have the same noisy problem, and I need to change the compressor. Is it possible to do something else, like change bearing or?

You can buy just the clutch/pulley assembly, but it's pretty expensive (around $200 from Tasca). If you're at the point where the bearing is that shot, it may be worth it to just go ahead an replace the entire compressor while you're at it (compressor, which I'm pretty sure includes new pulley/clutch, is a little over $400). Of course, if you do replace the entire compressor, then you'll have to have the refrigerant drained and refilled, which will cost some more money, but if you plan on keeping the car for a few years, it'll probably save more money in the long run to just do the compressor now, instead of just the pulley.

do you have those directions for a s60 02 turbo? The garage replaced mine (as well as serp cable because it snapped) so noise is gone but something happened because now I am not getting any pickup when going onto a ramp or up hills. The car will slowwllyyyy get to high speeds but its like the turbo isn't working or no air is getting in there. When i press down hard on the pedal it does nothing. Could they have forgotten to connect something back? After they finished with it , it displays "engine system service required ". Around town it drives fine

For this issue mine wound up being the pedal sensor that the dealer nailed down and fixed.
I finally have pickup. Weird that it went after my belt snapped and I had it replaced along w. the ac comp/pulley....

Smarzig, what was the engine idle like or what code came up when that message popped up? Mine is saying "reduced engine performance" then PO 0337 came up w/c is Crankshaft PS low input. Replaced the PS but DTC came back. Car drives fine around town but w/ a little hesitation. Hope someone chimes in for a fix. TY
