03 XC90 CD Stuck in Factory Stereo
03 XC90 CD Stuck in Factory Stereo
I bought this car used & didn't check the CD player & there is currently a CD stuck in the Disc 1 position and I can't get it out. {It's a multi-disc player} if that helps or is important.
You may have done this already, but I had one of the disc's keep "skipping" as it was trying to load into place. I turned the radio off and as soon as I turned it back on or back ot the CD setting start pressing a button for one of the other disc's. Once it is on that other disc, try to go back to disc one and press eject again. Mine needed to load another before I could the the one unjammed. All this being said, it the disc was still in there when you bought it, the owner that traded it in was probably aware and couldnt get it out either...

I would not even try to take the disc out. The changers in these vehicles are very finicky and break easily. Unforutnately the 6-disc changer in my car stopped working all together and now all it says is "Deck Error". My wife made me retrieve her CD's in it and when I took it out, it looked like it came apart from the inside. Now I am saving up for a Dension Gateway 500.
I'm also getting the Deck error. It seems that there is a disc stuck in the first slot as well. The Unit doesn't recognize there is a disc, but I imagine there is because It isn't allowing me to insert another disc. I tried your method as well as inserting a credit card and trying to get it to eject. That didn't work either.stone36 wrote:You may have done this already, but I had one of the disc's keep "skipping" as it was trying to load into place. Unfortunately there isn't anything else to do. The changers in these cars are crap. After opening up one on the inside, it is all made out of flimsy plasic and metal and if one tooth skips a cog, the whole thing craps out.
Did you purchase another radio/stereo? If so where did you get it? Also, if I get an iPod/aux installed, do you know if it will work since it runs through the CD player module as the CD player is broken?

I'm resurrecting this old thread because I just completed the installation of a Denison Gateway in my 2005 XC90. I'm here to tell you it is as advertised and so far worth every penny.
I purchased my 2005 XC90 pre-owned last year. I had researched the XCs heavily and thought I new plenty about them. I bought a one owner, dealer serviced vehicle with all the records in tact (including the original bill of laden from Volvo). This was a clean T5, three row, AWD with rear entertainment and park assist. The owner said, "Everything is great but I do need to tell you the radio screen is out. Everything still functions but the display is broken."
As many of you know that's no small matter. But I did not know and thought, heck, I'll just throw in an aftermarket stereo. I'll want AUX input and iDevice functionality anyway. Well, many hours of research about fiber optics and Volvo's ICM unit later, I ended up having to get a re manufactured unit and no AUX input.
Just a few weeks ago I stumbled upon the Denison Gateway 500 information. I thought I had looked long and hard for an AUX solution, but never really saw this until recently. I ordered the unit and by following the enfig YouTube install video, along with the Denison instructions, had the unit in place and working in just over an hour.
Install was fairly easy as I have had the radio and center console out before. Wiring was simple using the fuse block near the drivers door and now I have full iPhone integration as well as AUX input. The unit is not inexpensive, but I figure it is about the same price as a nice after market stereo. So in the end I can without hesitation recommend the Denison Gateway 500 for anyone looking to add some functionality upgrades to your older factory stereo.
