IPhone (possible sat/HD radio) integration with HU-613??

I have enjoyed my "new" (used 2004 V70 T5) Volvo and it's quality sound system. After owning it for a few months, I am now looking to keep the stock HU-613 audio system while significantly upgrading it's audio capabilities.

Does anyone have advice on how best to integrate the IPhone 3G/3GS into the HU-613? Additionally, I might like to add HD Radio or a Satellite Radio subscription service, sometime in the future. I'm a big fan of DIY projects, but am not interested in opening "Pandora's Box" of endless shielding, grounding, connectivity, or power problems.

I'm interested in all creative solutions/modifications/upgrades/replacements/etc.
