Back end of the wagon is more or less done
(Started more or less back to front....sort of)!
Koni shocks, H&R springs, IPD sway bar, new rotors, pads, re-painted calipers and backing plates plus a
new rear bumper have been installed.

The breather box is done, other vacuum lines have been replaced and the engine compartment has been thoroughly cleaned.
New radiator Monday night, coolant tank, hoses, etc then on to finish the front end (suspension) like the back.
The front end was so loose when I bought this I could not tell how the tie rods and control arms etc are and since I've spent a bloody fortune on parts, (even at cost plus 10%) I would hate to have to spend another 3-$400 if not necessary at this time.
They "look" OK, but I have to put it back together, drive it and see. I may have to take the front apart again if more suspension parts are needed

Looks good! Really interested in what you do with it, subscribed!
I don't see many 99's pulled apart so good to see some more pictures of familiar bits and bobs.

Somone finally responded, cool.
I bought this for two reasons
1: It's a 99 T5M one of about 20 built and these are what I buy regardless of condition anyway.
2: IT'S WHITE!!!
I've been looking for a WHITE GEN 1, 5 sp manual wagon or sedan for 5 years now
3: that body is 100% original, not a single bit of paintwork anywhere and not a single nick or scratch on the body!
(Actually amazing)
The only things that need painting are the bumpers, an R bumper is going on the front anyway and if you look in the background I already bought a new rear, (couldn't be repaired it was "warped").

It's a odd wagon, no moonroof (I couldn't care less) and it does not have full leather, (couldn't care less either)
in fact it's much more comfortable than leather, feels more like my R's.

I'm basically rebuilding the entire wagon it has 140k miles, local car
I already installed a new clutch and T belt, all tensioners,
breather box, radiator, coolant tank, all new hoses and clamps throughout the wagon

The suspension is also being totally built. IPD bars, H&R springs, Konis all around, spring seats, bearing plates, all new pads and rotors, inner and outer tie rods and control arms. (It already has a strut tower brace)
I have 2 sets of 17" wheels, PEGS and THORS, which one I will wind up with who knows!
New Conti DWS tires are sitting here
I also have a new EST exhaust going on
I'm installing all NEW wood trim (car came with black plastic and aluminum trim does not look good with taupe) plus a new AC evaporator and cabin sensor, heater core, and blower motor.
n
Radio is toast, I have a perfectly good SC 901 Dolby here so I found a used amp and cable and that too is being installed.

I'm not sure I've ever actually seen a T5 without leather or a moonroof. Add the manual into the mix, and that's a really rare combination you've got right there

Beautiful car though, make sure you sell it to someone who knows the real value of it. It seems like all the -70 series manuals out there are being smashed over on Volvospeed...

Looks real nice and I totally agree on the white. Not many v70s here seem to have the moonroof so I think they in fact look better without. That trim looks pretty nice actually, reminiscent of an older Volvo :-)
I am green with envy that you have tracked down a T5M, I will just have to keep on looking, someone will sell one eventually in Aus and it will be mine!
You always seem to do such a nice rebuild JRL, did I mention I am jealous.
Suspension sounds good, it will drive like it is on rails!

Keep us posted!

I bought and sold a 99 V70 T5M past Dec, also with no moonroof (but leather)
Those are the only two 99 T5M's I've ever seen available and have only seen two more, one in person.
Another white was in NY a couple of years ago but they wanted too much for me to buy, and one around here that had 26,000 miles on it a couple of years ago!!!
Original owner and would not sell at any cost!

That's an amazing car. I can't believe the body is perfect. It's a car somebody should keep covered in their garage except for Sundays, and in 20 years we'll see it on tv at an auction.

Rare cars are usually treasured over the decades, but what about very popular cars? Does anyone have say an 850 with 5k miles, or 500 miles, that will represent what this incredible model was all about to the next generation in a few decades? ... a "paradigm" car in showroom condition.
