Belt broke car is acting really funny
I was driving and noticed a funky smell. When I stopped, I popped my hood and noticed my belt has broke. My car was apparently losing power, because all my lights and my radio started acting up (like they often do when the car is going to die), so I drove my car as close to my house as I could before it lost almost all power. I finally got my car towed home. Now my question is, what happened? Is it my timing belt? Or a different belt. First time I have had a belt break, so any advise to change it would also be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.
Drive belt/serpentine belt. When it's too loose, or breaks, the alternator can no longer charge the battery, therefore the battery dies. Change the belt (~$100), charge up the battery and you should be all set.
