97 850 wagon axle shaft rattle
97 850 wagon axle shaft rattle
when im driving or just sitting at idle i get a rattle noise. I put the car on the ramps and slide under while it was running and found that the rattle was coming from the passanger side axle shaft. if i hung my hand on the shaft by the support , the noise would quit. I checked the support bolt and they were all tight. What else can I do? should i replace the axle shaft? could this be related to wheel bearings?

If the wheel bearings are loose enough to rattle you should be able to discern play in them. Jack up one wheel at a time and feel for slop. Bad wheel bearings normally start off with a roaring sound that changes pitch when cornering.
