850 BODY KIT ! ! !

Post by UncleBoost »

Oh my....This is a godsend here.
Caught up with one of old buddys from back in the minitruck days when we used to Slam trucks to the ground, Do mods that no one else has done
for instance a hydraulic Dump bed Toyota truck on the east coast in 1985 was unheard of....but we did it and won 1st place in a truck show in Richmond Va. Anyway.... he now works at a bodyshop doing custom painting. He rents a small area but has full access to the shop. The guy who owns the shop used to work for a Boat Hull company and knows how to make molds for fiberglass. I haven't met the owner yet but he needs help in his shop which is where I come in. I have been out of my element for 8 years since I gave up on custom body work since it was so time consuming, so i wanted to watch my twins (boys) grow up. So we moved to an area where Kids were abundant..yadda yadda yadda.....

NOW This is for you guys on the board intrested in Body kits.
This guy has the "Hands of gold". I saw pictures of his work. INCREDIBLE !
He can Hand make Body kits for any car. I saw pictures of what I thought was a Bently. You know the $450,000 car? NOpe...it was a modified Buick Regal! Whoa! Nice! Black and Low. Painting a car black shows you have mastered your craft because it will show the tiniest flaw. This car was flawless!
He also has a chevy caprice classic, you know the "Police" version?
Son......He has hand made a Chrysler 300 front clip, and has molded it to the front end of this car. The rear end has a Porche 928 look. Nasty!!

I will be working at this shop as a 2nd job getting back into my element, at which point i will ask the guy to help develope a kit for volvo 850's. Its a challenge to him and I know you guys thirst for unique body styling unlike the Japanese kits and erebuni etc. Real car has the best kit I have seen.
But they are way across the pond and this guy can do much better.
I am gonna see if he will use my car as the "Tool up" car to produce the Molds. I would like to take a POLL on how many people on here would be intrested in a body kit, Full kit or pieces, i.e. sidskirts, front bumpers, eyelids, rear bumpers etc. Also I know you would want to see how the kit would look first but once the intrest is there, I can show him that there IS a market for Volvo body kits. This is No Joke people. let me know.
You can email me or post here or do both. Once I can show him the intrest we can proceed. Oh and like i said, he can make a body kit for ANY car. I also saw a LEXUS kit modified and put on a 2003 Cadillac. Thats like your grandfather wearing Air Jordans....but it looked magnificent!
Also...(I could go on for days) a 1967 Cadillac, Carolina blue with Carolina blue Ostridge hide top and interior. Massive Wheels 26's or something with rubber band tires, Shaved door handles, air bag suspension, 10 tv monitors, remote start, remote doors, remote hydraulic hood and trunk.....and I almost had a heart attack when the doors went up like a (spelling)----->lamborghini Contauch Hello!
Let me know guys....
Thanks for reading this.

Boost,

Is there anyway you could post/show some pictures of the cars he's made kits for? Just would like to see some of his work and if it would something I'm into.

Thanks

This is pretty interesting UncleBoost. I would also like to see some of the work this guy has done. I also crosslinked this post over in the Cosmetic and Detailing section of the Volvospeed forums to get it a bit more attention.

I'd be interested in promoting and documenting his/your efforts on this site. I think starting up your own business or marketing a product from scratch is hard enough as it is, and I'd be happy to help.

Same goes for anyone out there producing or marketing Volvo car products.

I met with the owner last night we talked for 2 hours. He is extatic about this. He mentioned he has already made a kit for a Volvo several years ago but he couldn't remember the model. "Investigative" ME will find out! He also said he still may have the molds. He has many molds stored in a couple of rooms. I will go back Saturday and see what he has. I mentioned in an earlier post that he has a 911 Porsche he tooling on. The 1st kit he had the front airdam was Trick...man.
but he didn't like it because he thought it stuck out too far. The Nose looked like a Gembala Porsche ..Many curves and angles.
HE CUT THE KIT UP AND THROUGH IT OUT!!!!! UUUUUUUUUGh! But...he still has it!!
A little voice in my head was whispering....Ebay...Ebay....Ebay!
Where theres a market for everything!

Oh..had my digital camera, but the wife had removed the FRICKEN Memory stick!
UUUUUUUGH!
Regardless, I had a bike to paint and get outta there by midnight.
Going back today so I should have some fotos this weekend.

So far, we talked about a kit for the Volvo 850 wagon (the sedan may be the same in the rear anybody know? And the BMW 750il 88-93.
I will post the pic once the kit is installed on my car...he he heheeeeeee!
I can't wait. I will also let you guys know the time frame. Its not gonna happen over night...possibly before May.

Stay tuned.

8S70R: thanks for the invite. I'll hit it this weekend.

Uncle: if you guys want to make money, I'd suggest making kits for current-production cars, or at the very least very late models. '88-anything owners aren't going to have nearly as much money to spend as say a 2003, '04 or '05 owner.

Hello,

I just bought a 97 850 GLT and I am looking for a kit. I dont really like the ones that I have seen on the net. I like the 850R front bumber with a carbon fiber lip, but it not easy tracking a 850r bumper. It would be great if I could find a kit that was not too crazy or rice looking, but different then others.

How about a lip add-on?
