I have a 2000 XC that i am unfortunately having to sell, its purely a lemon! But i would want to upgrade. So for about $6500. Whats the best to buy. I heard of the problems with the ETM's and transmissions on the 2001 and 2002s, but are they an automatic NO? What if the tranny has been replaced or cared for, still bad? How are they on reliability, what are things to look for.
One of the things that got me bad is a leaking bevel gear, do the early ones have it too!?
I know volvos break but i truly need a reliable car that will run well with good service and periodical minor repairs.
Or do you think keeping the 2000 XC and dealing with the problems and repairs is a safer bet than risking the purchase of a new car. Theres a lot to do.
Thinking of an 01+ Volvo, which is the best one??
Your best bet with that statement is a toyota camry or honda accord. Butadk793 wrote:

If you are still set with getting another volvo, then get a non turbo, and stay away from the AWD. '02 and newer NA V70 would do.

Do not buy an 01!
