V70 Brake Caliper Bushings

Post by NICK59349 »

I have had a rattle in my front end for several months that goes away with a light application of the brakes. Today I replaced both drivelines, both control arms with associated bushings, ball joints, struts and associated bearings and brake pads. I also checked the remaining steering arms and stabilizer arms for condition, all good. First ride out and the rattle is still there. After a little investigation online I realized that the bushings for the calipers are made of rubber so I ordered them along with the caliper pin. I am hoping that this will solve the rattle because there is nothing else to replace.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I had a similar issue years ago with a 1969 F250 with the front caliper bushings.

Have the same problem with my 850 . The front end needed a rebuild and brakes so did the complete job noticed that my front drivers caliper looked like seepage around seal so ordered one from our local Advance Auto parts store and just used the old one till it came in. Now with new rebuilt caliper (Cardone Rebuilt) I have a rattle that drives me nuts and like yours disappears after slight brake pressure. They claim that bushings are new on rebuilt calipers and the only thing I can think of is maybe the durometer is to soft or the holes where the bushings set are worn allowing the assembly to sag just enough to make that annoying rattle. My next step is to remove the caliper from a parts car I just purchased and try that one if it eliminates the rattle i'll be fighting it out with the parts store to get the rebuilt one replaced . I'll also be taking measurements of bushings and mounts to see if there is a difference.
