Control Arm Bolts

Post by Sparkplug »

 Just a question regarding the bolts when replacing control arms. It is recomended that I replace the bolts when replacing the arms since they have already been tourqed to spec when installed. If that is the reasoning why do they not recommend replacing the wheel bolts when I rotate the tires? They are also torqued to spec. :?:

Because the wheel lugs are not stretched when tightened, as they are for control arm bolts. ball joints, etc.
1994 Volvo 940: 189,000 miles.
2008 Mustang GT convertible: 10000 miles. The garage queen.

Thanks for the answer. I have purchased the bolts for the control arms and will replace. I was just curious as to why.

Ted
