Got an issue with the wife's 850: It suddenly stalled this week, would not turn back on. Brought it home, started it but ran rough and big cloud of white smoke from tailpipe, smelled like rich fuel. Removed spark plug cover to replace plugs and noticed oil all over top of engine. One of the plug wires is cracked and noticed a clicking sound coming from distributor cap. Noticed s hairline crack on distributor so that will need to be replaced along with new plug wires. My question is: What's up with the oil on the engine? I was told it was the PCV valve, but don' know where or how to replace it. Could this cause the rough idle and stall? Sometimes the engine will start up, run rough for a minute then it dies.
Anyone has any advice?

There's a write-up 4 down at the top of the forum for changing the PCV system.
That shouldn't have anything to do with the start-up issue, though. Change the plug wires, dizzy rotor and cap, and see if it improves things.
You might also want to look into the fuel pump relay or mass airflow sensor for an issue. Will it run any better with the MAF connector disconnected (you'll throw a code, but it can easily be reset).
