pros and cons to the v8 and t6?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

pros and cons to the v8 and t6?

Post by salts850 »

i'm looking into buying a v8 or t6 s80 and i was wondering if anyone could help me with the history of these engines? I'm looking for a car around 35,000 miles on it and can't decide which way to go. I had an 850 turbo and loved it. I don't know anything about the v8. Around an 08 or so. Any opinions and/or experiences with either of these would be great. Thanks.

I bought a 99 T6 from a guy who had bought a new 2008 V8 AWD and later communication just said he was surprised/disappointed how much gas it used. This was back in spring of 2008. Other than that, the T6 is a strong engine and apparently can easily kill the GM autotranny so....
I have been lucky so far in that my tranny is holding together...

Yup, the good news for the OP is that the '08 S80 has an Aisin Warner TF-80SC gearbox, not a GM hydramatic-derived tranny. The V8 is a Yamaha unit built from the ground up for Volvo, those engines are assembled in Japan.
