Odd Noise after Timing belt/auxilary drive belt replacement

Post by davey45uk »

Hi

I have just had to replace the Alternator on my 1997 P reg V40 CD so whilst I was doing that and the car having done 129650 miles and not knowing when the timing belt had last been replaced I figured better safe than sorry and replaced that at the same time.

Having got everything back together and all running nicely, this metallic rubbing sound has started after about 10 miles of driving it sounds like it is coming from the belt area, I have had a look but can not see anything rubbing or loose, the odd thing is that it stays constant in that it neither increase or decrease with revving the engine.

I am now wondering if it has something to do with the power steering or the air con

Any suggestions would be gratefully received it has me baffled

Mark
