Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

1999 s80 t6 SRS Module Replacement Issue

Post by VolvoOwnerTyler »

Ok, so this is a long issue, so I'll try to summarize it up as quick as I can.

So I have a 1999 Volvo s80 t6. For awhile now, I have a fuse that keeps blowing non stop, it is fuse # 7, and controls my wipers, powers windows, etc. And if I drive for 5 minutes or more when it's blown, then fuse 23 blows, I believe its # 23, anyways it's the fuse that controls my srs airbags or module or something. I've taken the car to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out for the longest time, and finally they said fuse 7 is blowing because of a short or something in my srs module. They said when they disabled my srs module, fuse 7 stopped blowing. So they said I have to replace the srs module, which they charge $1025 for that part. So I'm trying to figure out how to disable the SRS Module myself, and take it out a couple days after that, so I can send it in for Repair (which I found a few sites that offer SRS Module Repair for $50-100. The dealer said my SRS Module is under my center console, and I look and I see many modules, can someone help me figure out how to disable my SRS and take it out? Even if you can just tell me where it is located that would be helpful, I can't find images anywhere!!! Also, do you guys think the dealer gave me the correct diagnosis?
