service manual

Is there a factory service manual available? I have these for all my other cars and find them invaluable. I am looking for a place to purchase one, I guess the dealer would be able to order one(?)

Yeah, but Haynes doesn't show one for the S80. What I REALLY want is a Volvo FACTORY service manual. I have one for all my other cars, they are like $150 or so each, but WELL worth it. SO far I am having no luck on that...... :(

Don't know how old your S80 is, but I tried to purchase a factory shop manual for my '02 V70XC, and found out they don't exist, at least not on paper. Volvo has gone to a computerized system which dealers and large shops, I suppose, subscribe to. I found that the most basic subscription I could purchase, was $1600. I didn't bother to find out if this was the annual charge, or a one time fee. I guess I'll have to wait several years for a Haynes manual to come out. I think it was this computerization of shop manuals due to the complexity of the new cars, that caused the demize of the old Chilton and Motor's repair manuals. Boy do I miss them!!!

You know, I hadn't thought about that.....damn! But you may be right.
I guess I just need to talk to my dealer, they have been VERY accomodating the last few visits there. Perhaps the Parts or Service Manager can tell me for sure.
Thanks!

P.S. yeah, I've fixed many, many cars using those old Chilton's manuals....the good old days!
