Stubborn 0019 code, 2001 V70XC

Post by jakeman111 »

Original issue was the mil-check engine light on, 1332 code. Was the problem a faulty CVVT solenoid? About $100 bucks and a new CVVT later code 1332 was resolved however I was then presented with code 0019 which had me kicking myself for assuming that the CVVT was the problem.

The 0019 code/mil ON is still a chronic problem despite the installation of a new volvo camshaft position sensor. The only difference now being that one could get several start to stop drives in prior to this code returning. I delete the code with my Actron pocket scannner, mil/check engine light remains illuminated, take the vehicle for a drive, Actron pocket scanner then reveals zero codes, mil remains illuminated, eventually 0019 returns as an active code. Is this just a matter of having enough patience to wait for the code to clear itself?

-20K on timing belt/tensioner/idler
-Engine/vehicle performance shows no evidence of decline.
-Owner morale: Low

Update: Vehicle added P1028 code to the menu indicating a thermostat, engine coolant temperature sensor issue. Engine temperature takes a very long time to increase during a drive cycle and remains low. Is it possible that my inability to clear camshaft related 0019, 1332 codes is being caused by the engine not coming up to the temperature that existed when it first recorded these codes?

anything is possible.

Start with the simple. Replace the t-stat and the coolant temp sensor, erase the codes and see what comes back.
