i recently test drove an s70 awd sedan. when i would turn sharply ie park, u-turn, etc....there would be somewhat of a humming noise during the turn that came from the front of the car. i asked the salesman about it and he sheepishly said "it needs power steering fluid." i find that hard to believe. then the other day i saw the same exact model, but different car, in a parking lot, and as it was parking it made the same noise as the car i test drove.
anyone know of the sound i am talking about and if it is normal or not?

ours does that, we just got some fluid from an auto parts store that is 100% supposed to stop stuff like that... It's nothing to worry about, many cars do it.
I have a '98 V70, which makes this sound occasionally. My sound is a low bassy sound, as opposed to a squeak. The dealer suggested I grease the lower steering shaft with grease. This resolves the problem for about one month. Then it is time for some more grease.
Try the power steering fluid, but if that doesn't work, the grease should.
