Here's a Repair Database post I made after first meeting with Volvo Specialists in summer 2010. My opinion hasn't changed, meaning I like them.
Service Writer Brett Borders -- who you're most likely to speak to if you call them -- has forgotten more about Volvos than I'll ever know. His encyclopedic knowledge of 850/S/V/XC70 series and P2 cars is uncanny. He's got a very fast S60 R and a Bertone. The owner Michael Fisher is usually onsite, and has helped me personally when I was in a time crunch by pressing bushings into control arms.
I don't get any kickbacks if you go there, just goodwill. Tell them I sent you.

Matt, I see this is an old thread. I checked out reviews for Volvo Specialists on Google & Yelp and they're not good since Brett left. I'm searching for other options.

I went there yesterday with BEJinFBK who was visiting Denver on business, and hung out for about an hour with VolvoSpecialists Quin, Keits, Michael and Justin, the latter three being techs. Quin is a service writer now I think. Anyway, they all know Volvo cars inside and out.
But I know that doesn't automatically make it where you want to have service done. I know there are other factors.
Brett is at Swedish in Boulder.
My 2¢.

Hers a good experience from a poster in Denver on a transmission problem
I just got the call--the Volvo is running "smoothly" and a new transmission is not needed!!!! I didn't get to them in time to ask about a "drain and fill" and I hope this won't be a problem. They flushed it. Do you think I'll now have problems with it?
They drove the car for 4 miles and all the gears are shifting smoothly. They replaced the radiator hose, which was cracked, but noticed another crack in the radiator, so that needs to be replaced. They also need to do a PCV clean and that's it.
Is this an amazing turnaround or what???
Thanks to everyone who helped me!
ETA: Also, the dealer who misdiagnosed the car was McDonald Volvo. The competent & ethical shop who repaired my car & got it back on the road again is Voltek Volvo in Denver. I can't say enough good things about them.
