ETM or transmission?

Post by marshcat »

I'm looking at buying a '99 V70R AWD. The car runs fine when cold but won't move when it warms up. The seller assumes the problem is a blown transmission, but I'm thinking an ETM failure is more likely. I can see in the photos of the car the the dash light all the way on the bottom right is on...if my memory serves me right this is the CEL.

Does this sound like an ETM problem?

Have the codes pulled, with the CEL On there should be some; this is the best approach by far.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
