My S40 will not start

Post by brian1163 »

My S40 was running fine, we came home parked it the garage and the next day it would not start. The only issues we have had has been with the CEM and it seems most people who own these do at some point in time. My understanding is that even if there is a problem with the CEM the car should still run fine, you may just have the issues witht the lights only working on high beam, etc. I did find a used CEM and that did not fix the issue and as a matter of fact i have put three CMs in the car, Even with the CEM issues the car has ran just fine. Now however my daughter pulled it into the gargae the other night and when she went out to start the next morning, it just turns over. I can hear the fuel pump and I also puled one of the plugs and it has spark. Any ideas????

One day my car wouldn't start after driving just fine. Turns out I had a stowaway family of mice living above my gas tank and they finally chewed through enough wires to short out something. This was strange though because I drove the car 10 miles to work every day. Anyway, over the past 10 years I've found a lot of evidence of mice/rodents throughout my car. (acorns in the shifter arm area, acorns under the glovebox near the blower resistor, acorns under the hood, and one time when I went to replace my air filter...I found a live brown mouse in the air box.I'm not sure who was more surprised, him or me) So, what I am saying is, your problem could be something totally unrelated to anything you might think is going on. Apparently mice love S40s. Just ask my car.
