I'd like to change this belt out prior to the 105K interval. I have about 62,000 on my S80 T6 and it has some cracks in it. A friend of mine has a 2001 S80 2.9 and was getting it serviced the other day at the local dealer, and said a woman was in raising hell 'cuz her belt had broken and the engine needed $4000 in repairs, and from what my friend overheard the belt was no where near in need of changing per the schedule. So I figure an ounce of prevention.........
How much of a pain is this to do? I am still trying to find a service manual for this car, but wonder about the details involved with changing the belt out?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

wait to change your timing belt. they do not broken before 105k. what car did the lady have? like 94 960 change at 50k 95-98 960 x90 change at 70k
x70 change at 70k s80 change at 105. we have not had one broken before 105k.
x70 change at 70k s80 change at 105. we have not had one broken before 105k.
After looking more (though I haven't removed any covers yet) it appears there is the timing belt AND a second belt, the serpentine belt that drives all the accessories. Other forum's members have indicated to change the serpentine belt at 60K miles but agree that the timing belt is good for the full 105K miles.
As for what car the lady in my earlier post had, all my friend knew was that it was an S80.
