1994 Volvo 850 ABS light after repairs

Post by Cherae »

:( I have a 1994 Volvo 850. Last week the car just died and I had to have it towed to the dealership. Repairs made were: replaced crank & cam sensor, distributor cap and rotor. Parts were: V3547699 engine speed, distributor cap, CMP sensor. When I picked the car up the ABS light came on immediately and stays on. I feel some sort of vibration momentarily which stops.
Does anyone know why the ABS light is now coming on? Is this a coincidence and just one more problem or can it be related to the repairs and or towing?
Also, the bill for the repairs was 773.00 which seemed high. and it also seems I can never get out of the dealership repair shop for less than 700 bucks.
Thanks for advice/help.

I don't have first-hand knowledge of this, but I've read about the sensors getting broken or clogged, and thus causing this behavior. Sorry, don't know the location of these sensors. A Haynes or Chiltons manual might list that.

Your ABS control unit went out (~$500) and it's a HUGE coincedence that this happened at the same time you had work done/towed.
Also, the bill for the repairs was 773.00 which seemed high. and it also seems I can never get out of the dealership repair shop for less than 700 bucks.
This is the nature of dealers. My buddy just had his Ford Exploder towed to the Ford dealer because it wouldn't start. They replaced the battery, battery cable (2), and changed the oil for $600-somthing.
I can't comment on the price that you paid for the work done.

Sorry to hear of your troubles!
