2000 S40 Radiator Replacement

Post by TomFisher »

I need to replace the radiator in my 2000 S40. I've read the May 19 2009 post and reviewed the Volvo pdf file. If correct the removal and replacement is through the auto's underside. My question is there anyone who has successfully replaced the radiator from above?

Are you sure the how-to was for S40/V40?
That s40 has the mounts on the top of radiator that come off and the bottom of rad sits in two mounts and after all the lines, hoses, shroud are off, it will come out by lifting.

Yes it appears it does address the S40 and you are correct that "after all the lines, hoses, shroud are off, it will come out by lifting" but in the pdf instructions the oil cooler lines remain connected and the radiator and fan housing are dropped out as one unit from below. My concern is, is the amount of space between the charge air cooler and the engine is sufficient to pull the radiator upwards and out. I'd like to not have to disconnect the oil lines if possible. The link to the page with the pdf is below if needed. Thanks much.
