New Old S60

Post by tjf »

We just bought an '07 s60 for my wife, off lease. AWD, with performance and sport packages. Only 13,000 miles on it and it looks and drives like a brand new car, at a great price - $21K.

This is a first volvo for us and so far, we love it. My wife doesn't get as excited about cars as I do but she had a huge smile on her face during our test drive. Plenty of snow here in Syracuse and this thing just barrels through it. I'm a long time bmw guy but its making me think hard about replacing my ragtop with an XC-70.

Anyway, I have been enjoying the forum.

Welcome Aboard!!

Once you go Volvo, it is hard to go back to anything else. Also, the S60 is one of the best Volvos out there. Congrats on the purchase and good luck going forward with it.

Thanks. This is a great winter here in Syracuse to have the AWD. Over 125 inches so far (we had 71 inches by Christmas) and more snow expected every day this week. This car just barrels through the slop. I'm a little nervous reading the comments on this forum about volvo awd, but hopefully that concern is limited to the older models.

Congrats. From driving a BMW to this, it will feel like a tank! They are easy to fall in love with but it can become a love/hate relationship quickly if you don't give her what she wants! You still have a few years yet.

I will always own a Volvo, even if she needs to be a garage queen some day.

Sixty day update:

Have put almost 4K miles on it in two months and the only issue so far has been one tail light bulb. 170 inches of snow and counting here. Another dozen inches last night and that car is so solid - like a tank barreling through the unplowed roads this morning. Very sure-footed, passing fishtailing subarus with ease! Also its a very comfortable driver. We did a 9 hour roundtrip to Boston yesterday and it was smooth sailing (until we hit the storm). So far we are quite pleased with the car and especially the AWD. 8)

Yep
I heard Syracuse has had world record snow this year?!
Be nice to your S60
Do MANY oil changes, 3500 miles with regular oil, or 5000 miles if you use synthetic (which I would do at your low miles).
These cars like oil changes and if you do them on time, many less issues later on!
Rptate the tires every other oil change and DO THE REQUIRED SERVICES on time, whether you do them, a Volvo dealer does them or an independent does them
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Thanks. We are about 19 inches from the Syracuse all-time record (192). Typical winter is about 120.

I have an independent guy I go to for my bmw and he works on volvos as well. He yells at me to change oil more than I do. I have 185K on the bimmer and its still running well. I definitely believe in synthetic.
