Volvo S60 2.4T PCV valve disaster

Post by regutierrez »

I’m new to the forum and I like to share with you my pain. My S60 2.4T started to leak oil from somewhere below the intake manifold. I did not pay too much attention to this problem because it did not seem like a lot of oil was leaking. By the time I took the car in, it was also leaking oil through the exhaust cam seal. The Volvo mechanic informed me that the PCV valve became clogged and because I ran the car for so long the engine internal pressure build up too much and damaged the cam seals. So what could have cause $350 to fix now caused me $1150. Don’t let this happen to you. If you S60 or S40 has more than 100k mile be proactive and change the PCV valve. And by the way if you own the S40 the dealer will fix it for free because there is a service bulletin on this, but not for the S60 unfortunately.
