'03 V40 2.0T How to replace tail gate light unit

Post by MrC »

Hi There,

I have a cracked glass section of the rear tailgate light unit (looks like some rammed the light with a shopping trolley!). I understand that you cannot just replace a section of the glass, therefore the complete light panel needs to be replaced.

I have found a replacement light panel on e-bay but cannot find any guides on how to replace. Does anyone know how this can be done and if any specialist tools are required?

(attached is a copy of the 2000-2004 panel from ebay that I am proposing to purchase, just to make clear the element to replace)

When replacing the panel check the clips aren't broken otherwise it is a reverse of the removal.

Thanks Bill,

Looks fairly straight forward. I will have a look tonight regarding the removal of the trim etc.

I will order the replacement and let you know how I get on!!
