I found a belt kit by gates TCK319. It has 146 teeth, is this the right belt and are they quality to use or go with Volvo. Volvos naturally alot more with the idler and tensioner. One of the kits TCK319P has 3 seals in it, where do they go?

If the kit is for your vehicle then it is right,
The seals are for crankshaft and camshaft.
If you do the seals you have to use special tools as the cvvt units do not fit onto cams with keyways or pins. Once cvvt's are removed they cam and crank have to be indexed and a procedure followed to get them back in correct place.
I prefer OEM for timing belt components but I have used Continental brand kits and they use the OEM brand of tensioner and idler roller. Continental is OEM supplier for other Europeans. There is only one engine choice for 6 cylinder for that vehicle.

Alright another question. I talked to a mechanic I've had do other work before about doing the timing belt for me because I'm a little nervous about doing it. He said he would not because you would need the special tool to hold the cams otherwise they will turn when you take the belt off. i've seen the tool for holding the cams when taking off gear but do you have to worry about that when just changing belt, idler , and tensioner? I've read the pdf and I see nothing about this issue so I assume that's not the case. It says not to turn them but are they going to turn if not locked into place as soon as I take the belt off? If they turn when taking off the belt are you able to spin them back easily or is it alot of preasure? Thanks

The .pdf is Volvo's instruction for changing the timing belt on your car. Two special tools are mentioned at the top of page 1 - 999-5433 which is a counter hold for the vibration dampener and 999 5456 which is a compression tool for the tensioner. My Volvo contact, now an independent, says he has had no problems doing XC90 belts without those two tools as he has other tools that do the same job and he has never locked the cams for a timing belt job.
