When I got the new R I had to push the override button every time to get it out of park. I blindly ordered a new switch because that is what everyone says is the problem. I already had the console out so if I had taken 5 minutes to get out my multimeter I would have saved myself $35. It was the actual solenoid that was not working. I was able to pull a new solenoid at Pick-N-Pull and now everything is working fine.
Moral of the story is to actually look at the issue before ordering parts.
Automatic Shift Lock - Not The Switch This Time
Update on my issue. It actually looks like this is ignition related. It seems to all depend on exactly where I have the key turned to in the ignition. I don't have any binding issues with turning the key, so I don't think it is anything physically broken in the ignition. Would a new Ignition Switch possibly fix this?

Yep - the electrical portion is what you need; that's what caused mine to not work for the first couple years I had my car.
Then the brake switch went bad. Then solenoid/microswitch went bad.
