My 03 S80 T6 urgent service air bag message (along with the air bag symbol illuminating on the instrument cluster) came on. The dealership could not clear the codes and diagnosed the problem as a faulty SRS module. Is this a problem with the 03 S80 T6? Also can I buy a good, exact, unit from a junk yard and plug it in or does the factory “marry” (for that car only) a respective module to the particular car that it is installed in. Lastly, could someone recommend a reliable SRS module sales/service website for the Volvo S80 T6. Thanks for any help

On several car makes this can occur. Not a widespread problem but it does happen. Before module is replaced a new code is introduced by unplugging another component, on an S80 the side airbag is seat is easily disconnected under front edge of seat, and a read and clear attempt is made.
Of course, the code does not clear when there is a legitimate fault still present.
There is a company that is in business to serve body shops (and anyone I guess) by reading and clearing SRS lamps. You might call a body shop near you and ask if they use the service and can give you the number.
I do not know if they do repairs other than reading and clearing.

Also, I have had loads of problems with the electrical components in my vehicle (I brought it new) since I had my transmission was rebuilt. First it was the ABS module. Then the instrument cluster, after that, and currently, the driver information module. Do you think there’s something wrong with my alternator? It should be noted that I think my driver information module went when a mechanic hooked up an OEM type of code reader/clearer to the vehicle.
