gear selector or shifter knob

I'm new here and love this site. It's pretty awesome some of the advice that is on here that I will undoubtedly use in the future. That being said, I need some help obviously. The plastic piece that is depressed to move the shifter between gears broke. I have to purchase the whole knob but I have no clue how to take the old one off and put the new one on. I spoke with the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and they told me there is a "pin" that needs to be removed. Problem is, I have no idea how to get to this "pin". Anyone have any idea how to do this?

Just a little side note. I convinced my wife that we needed to purchase our XC90 for use as our family car as we have a baby on the way. She'll be here in June and I can't wait. I am so glad that she agreed with me to get this vehicle. We absolutely love it. This is our first Volvo and I believe if we continue to have good luck with this one, we may just get another in a few years. We bought it in September with 62k on it and haven't had any major issues with it. We were warned it's expensive to maitain, but with the help of everyone here, that should help defray the costs.
