i have a volvo v70 year 2000 it has a volvo radio cassett in place at the moment i would like to replace it with a volvov70 cd/radio /tape player should it fit in without any problems please thanks mike. :

yes should slide right in. Just make sure you get the radio code when buying the new one.

In some cases you might just want to get a retrofit kit if your not looking to keep your car original. It will occupy just half of your double din unit. The other can be substituted with a cubby hole for your CD's and other things.

It will definitely fit. I would think it would be more cost affective to buy and aftermarket double DIN and put that in, no?

Unless you're like me and obsessive about a total OEM look on the dash, do what they said, get an aftermarket. sonicelectronix.com has a bunch of double-DIN and some look fairly plain. Don't believe crutchfield; a double DIN will fit beautifully, you just have to take the rails off.

If you really want to stick OE, you want the SC-815 or SC-816 (same, one is black, other is gray) single-CD unit; it has the proper bass emphasis for your wagon. Or, you could go higher end and get an SC-901 three-CD, but the cartridges tend to screw up and that unit requires the external OE amplifier. However, the -901 is made by Alpine, where the lesser units are Mitsubishi.

Either way, since you have a V70, (P1, right? no "hips" on the side?) you should consider the Dynaudio factory upgrade speaker kit. Search around the forums. Don't fool around with aftermarket speakers; you could spend $10K on a competition reference system that takes up your whole cargo area and cuts into your panels, and not match what those Dynaudios can do without a single visible change.
