service reminder reset

Post by Krikkit »

Is it possible to reset the service reminder light?
I have an OBD II reader, using the 'erase' function doesn't reset the service reminder. I saw on the brickboard that only a Volvo Scan Tool can reset it. (www.brickboard.com/ARCHIVES/1998JAN/7733.shtml)

also, where can I get a decent service manual at a reasonable price?

The OBD11 doesn't reset the service light. There is an aftermarket tool that as I recall sells for about $200

Depends on the OBDII device. I have PC software (and a cable of course) that does reset the service light. However, the software is very complex, and I strongly recommend finding another vendor -- even if I could remember the name of the software.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Check out http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/reset.htm. I had an 850 and have a V70. It works for me.

I don't see anything there that applies to a '97 850, only '94-95 and some '96. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Does anyone knows if the Iscan works good for a 98 S70 ? is it expensive ? Looks like it is the most similar to the Volvo scan tool, it can even clear codes and hopefully reset the service reminder light.
