Low boost pressure, stumbles and misses at random

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Low boost pressure, stumbles and misses at random

Post by mojomello »

this problem is worse when it's cold. It occurs mostly at low rpm and as it surges it's way up it gains more power. The missing occurs randomly, but mostly when either cruising, or accelerating from a stop. Once it gets going, or when I dog the heck out of it, it seems to resond fairly well, but not like it should. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuelfilter, vacuum lines, MAF, TPS, IAC, all new and quality stuff. help?

Are you getting any DTC codes or have a Check Engine Light on? How long has this been happening? Could possibly be bad gas? You may also try cleaning the intake by following this link https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 37#p134138 There is a Seafoam Spray available now whick makes the intake cleaning much easier.

I figured out what it was like ten minutes after I posted this. It seems the wastegate actuater rod had come loose somehow. I did clean the intake already though, I just took a vacuum line off and dunked it into the can of seafoam till it ran about half the can through. Thanks for taking the time to help out though. I'm sure I'll need you on the next one.
