Driveline noise - help please

Hi, I have a '95 850 GLT wagon. Recently I had to change the front O2 sensor, so jacked up the car at the front cross-memeber and put jack stands on both sides near the control arm (again on the frame). Standard jacking procedure, as far as I know.

Anyway (coincidentally to the jacking or not) the next day I noticed that park or neutral the car sounds fine, but in any forward or reverse gear the car makes a moaning/straining noise - both moving AND standing still. It was not from the drive pulleys (took off serp belt to prove it) so took the car to AAMCO thinking tranny problem. They said it was the wheel bearings.

I've never heard of wheel bearings making noise at rest, but I'm not familiar with Volvo's bearing set up either (sealed hub assembly). So anyway, I am R&Ring them right now, but I can't imagine this fixing the problem.

Does anyone have any idea what else I can check?

Hmm, that's a tough one. The engine vibrates a bit more in drive than it does in park/neutral. Check to make sure you're exhaust piping isn't hitting anything. I've had that problem before.
