Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 volvo s80 t6 starting problem...help me...

Post by tejas24478 »

I have 2000 Volvo s80 T6 ...
It is not getting started.. It seemed to me like my battery has drained out..So put a jump starter box and tried to junp start it ...But even with jump starter it makes just clicking noise and does not start..!

AC, other lights everything works when I try to start but just the engine doesn't start up.

Before I faced this problem, I had turn signals not working so I removed fuse 21, 22, 25 and 35 and then kept them back... Then I started facing this starting problem... and turn signals started working !!!

The battery seems fine(got it checked at walmart) ... and I am trying to start with jumper box (considering the battery might have drained out) ... What could be the issue... please help me with this..

Thanks...

Is it an auto? if so start looking at the PNP switch, sometimes its enough to quickly shift the selector from Park through all the positions back to Park (repeat this a few times), make sure its back in Park to start the engine, sometimes th eswitch sticks, if the car doesn't see the "In Park" signal from the switch it won't crank.

If its a manual gearbox ignore the above as it doesn't apply - Mike

One more:
I belive your battery is bad but when using jump starter box you make a mistake....
Connect the jump starter box and leave it there for 5 minutes to charge your battery.
I was in trouble similar to yours. When trying to start the engine some relay was clicking. "OK, the battery is bad! DAAAAD come here with your car, please". He came after a half an hour (he lives in the other end of the town so it's fast :) ) meanwhile I prepared the jump cables.
We installed the jump cables - start engine - oh no, clicking again :(
I was angry, dissapointed and unhappy. Got a cigarette to calm down. Needed secound and thinking "OK, I love you, I make everything possible to make you feel good, why, why you do that to me? Please, I'll try again, just start." And in next few seconds she answered to me "I love you, too" Hahahaha

So what I mean is that you need to charge you battery a bit an then try to start.
Good luck
