XC60 wheels on an XC70

Post by jackdog »

Hi Guys,

I have a wheel problem that I can't solve and asking the dealers here in the UK results in a number of different answers. So here it goes...

I have a 2010 "XC70" D5 SE. It has the standard 7.5J x 17 (5x108 bolt pattern) sargas alloy rims. I want to use these for my winter wheels with winter tyres. I have been offered some 7.5J x 18 (5x108 bolt pattern) 2009 "XC60" mantus alloy wheels. I thought great they will fit as you can order the bigger mantus style wheels as an upgrade for the "XC70" click the "Styling link" on the page below. I planned to put lower profile 235/50/R18 tyres on the new wheels to compensate for the bigger rims instead of the standard 235/55/R17.

Anyway the responses from various dealers told me that the

[1] Bolt pattern was not compatible

[2] The brakes would cause a problem

[3] wheels have a different rack and pinion set up so a no go

[4] alignment onto the hub and wheel nut depth is a problem

[5] the turning circle which is limited by the amount of internal lock of the rack and pinion. If you put 18in wheels on they will foul on the chassis on lock.

Anyways I am confused ... Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

Cheers for any help.

If the center bore on the hub is the same and they clear the brakes, they will work, PERIOD
