Can I disable or bypass the anti theft system
My 2000 S70 has a problem with the anti theft system I'm told, Took it to the dealer for a non related problem and they told me this. Said it was expensive to fix and I could take care of it temporarily by turning the key over and restarting, Amazingly this works, but is annoying, I may go days or weeks and all is fine. Then I go to start the car and it won't start, turns over really but won't start, then just turns off. I take the key out and turn it over and it does the same thing and I repeat this till it suddenly starts. It usually takes 4-10 times of doing this to get it to start. Always takes at least 4 key turns to start it. My husband is handy with cars and hates this. Says there should be a way to turn off this anti theft feature that can't figure I'm the real owner or to bypass it somehow so it will let me drive on. Any suggestions for where this relay or something is or how to bypass this problem? It would sure make life better at our house.

It sounds like a simple antenna ring issue.
Remove the steering wheel clamshell (3 screws in the bottom), and pull off the antenna ring around the key slot. Clean up the electrical connectors to the ring and see if it'll start working again. If not, I think they're somewhere around $40-50.
