I purchased my V70R last year and have been very disappointed with the fuel mileage, amongst other things. Met a fellow in a line-up this spring and he has a 2004 V70R; he told me that he had swapped his plugs for others that were longer - and his mileage and performance both improved greatly.
Does anyone have advice/experience with this issue? My car has approximately 66K km ( = 41K miles) on it.
Thanks,
best spark plugs for 2007 Volvo V70R

Thanks, JRL, for the speedy reply. I will visit the other sites you mention shortly. Is that the correct spelling: CORERECT Volvo spark plugs? No model number or other designation? Thanks, DNG

I was eating.
I don't know the part number, just make sure you ask for R plugs as they are different
However I don't think that would drastically hurt your mileage/
What mileage are you getting? (city and highway, 6 speed or GT) I've really never heard a complaint on the mileage/
They usually get around 15-18 in town and anywhere from 24 to 28+ on the highway, depending on how your right foot and highway cruising speed (and which transmission you have)

Does the eating explain CORERECT as being a typo? My mileage in town is awful: close to 15 litres per 100 km! On the highway, it is a lot better: closer to 10 liters/100 km. DNG

For both my Volvos (97 850R and 2006 V70R) I use the Volvo "R6" plugs. They are unbeatable for life and performance. Tried just about every other brand out there on the 850...some worked well but didn't last past about 12K miles. Others were just lousy from the beginning.

Hi, SimLyons & thanks for your input. I will check my dealership to see if they stock the R6 plug.
Cheers, DNG

OOOOPS! JRL is correct and I apologize. Volvo changed the cylinder head thickness somewhere about 2004. You'll have to run your VIN by a dealer to find out which plug to use for sure. My 2006 R uses the longer R6. I can believe the shorter plug in a deeper hole would make a real definite difference in performance and fuel cons.

Addendumto above: The R-6 should be the N-6 and it is the OEM (Volvo Brand) for the 2006 R and 2007 R. IPD carries them in a 5 plug kit. They use a longer "internal" part number for the kit when/if you order.
